Itinerary :
Day 01 Home-
- Beijing
Transfer via: TBA, on your own arrangement.
Arrive at Beijing . Be met & transferred to your
hotel by a friendly tour guide. Free at leisure for the
rest of the day.
Day 02 Beijing (B/L)
Full day city tours including a visit to
the Tian'anmen Square - the biggest
public square in the world. Located at the north of
Tiananmen Square is the Forbidden City
, named Gu Gong in Chinese, this was the
imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties, now
known as the Palace Museum. After lunch visit the
Temple of Heaven , the
place for the emperors to worship the God (heaven) for
good harvest in the past.
Day 03 Beijing
(B/L) A memorable daylong excursion
combines a visit to the soul-stirring Great Wall
, winding dragon-like across northern China .
Drive along the Sacred Way , guarded by sculpted stone
animal both real and fabulous, which are a
photographer's delight. Finally, visit the Ming
Tomb.
Day 04 Beijing - -
Urumchi
(B/L) Be transferred to the
airport. Take a flight to Urumchi. Once you arrive at
Urumchi, you'll be met & transferred to your hotel.
Free at leisure for the rest of the day.
Day 05
Urumchi- Turpan
(B/L) Visit the Heavenly
Lake , which is 1900 meters
above the sea level. It is particularly refreshing for
travellers arriving in Urumqi from the barren deserts in
Xinjiang. Be transferred to Turpan.
Day 06 Turpan-train-Dunhuang
(B/L) First take a visit to
Gaochang Ancient City , the city's name
means 'the King City '. It was founded during the first
century B.C. and abandoned during the 15th century. Then
visit the Flaming Mountain
and Astana Tombs where the
ancient people of the Gaochang city are buried. It is
famous for its terracotta figurines and tomb paintings
Suleiman's Minaret. Afterwards visit Grape
Valley and Karez Well
, this irrigation system of wells connected by
underground channels is considered to be one of the
three great ancient projects in China . Be transferred
to the railway station to catch the train to Dunhuang.
Overnight on train to Dunhuang.
Day 07 Dunhuang (B/L)
Arrive at Dunhuang by train. To be met and
transfer to v isit Mogao Grottoes which
was constructed from the 4th to the 14th centuries. The
caves hold the world's richest treasure house of
Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures. Then visit
Echoing-Sand Mountain
and The Crescent Lake .
Day 08 Dunhuang-
-Xi'an (B/L)
Be transferred to the airport. Take a
flight to Xi'an . Once you arrive at Xi'an , you'll be
met & transferred to the hotel with your private
guide & vehicle. Visit the Provincial
Museum , the Ancient
City Wall and the Bell
Tower .
Day 09 Xi'an (B/L)
You will have a whole day visit to the
famous historical site of the Qin Terracotta
Warriors . More than 6000 life -sized
terracotta figures of soldiers and horses in perfect
battle array are showing the superb sculptural art of
that time. Afterwards, visit the Wild Goose
Pagoda.
Day 10 Xi'an -
- Lhasa (B/L)
Be transferred to the airport. Take a
flight to Lhasa . Once you arrive at Lhasa , you'll be
met & transferred to the hotel with your private
guide & vehicle. Free at leisure for the rest of the
day.
Day 11 Lhasa
(B/L) Have a full day trip to Potala
Palace which contains various
chapels and mausoleums for previous Dalai Lamas. The
13-story palace stands 117 metres high and has over 1000
rooms. Visit the Jokhang Temple
which was originally built in 647 A .D. It is
said the site was chosen personally by the wife of King
Songtsan Gampo - the Tang Princess Wen Cheng. Afterwards
visit the Barkhore Street which is the
oldest street in Lhasa and remains very traditional. It
is a place where Tibetan culture, economy, religion and
arts assemble and a place to which a visit must be
paid.
Day 12 Lhasa (B/L)
Full day trip to Trupeng Monastery
which was the largest and richest of the three
major Yellow Sect monasteries in Lhasa and it also
became the most powerful. Sera Monastery
, the last of the three principal Yellow Sect
monasteries to be built in Lhasa comprises a great sutra
chanting hall, a college and 32 sections. It once housed
nearly 10000 monks and is proud of its glorious history
during the Ming Dynasty. After that visit
Norbulingka and the Carpet
Factory .
Day 13 Lhasa -
Shigatse (B/L) Drive from
Lhasa to Shigatse (about 347km ). Visit Yamdrok
Lake en
route. Yamdrok Lake is one of four holy lakes, the
others being Lhamo La-tso (mentioned above), Namtso and
Manasarovar. It is revered as a talisman and is said to
be part of the life-spirit of the Tibetan nation. Being
the largest lake in southern Tibet , it is said that if
its waters dry, Tibet will no longer be habitable. Visit
Baiju Monastery ; a huge temple with a
unique history and a wealth of Buddhist art. Stay
overnight in Shigatse.
Day 14
Shigatse- Lhasa (B/L) Visit
Tashilumpo Monastery which was built in
1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama, who was the disciple of
Tsongkapa, the founder of the Gelug and made temple
became the political and religious center. Afterwards
visit the free market. Drive back to Lhasa .
Day 15 Lhasa-
- Kunming (B/L)
Free at leisure until to be transferred to
the airport for flight to Kunming .
Day 16 Kunming (B/L)
One day tour to visit
Stone Forest which is located 90km
south of Kunming . It is a process of weathering and
erosion, nature has created an art gallery of stone
sculpture here. Then visit Sani village
en route when return to the city.
Day 17 Kunming -
- Shanghai (B/L)
One day tour to visit West Hill
Dragon Gate and the Golden
Temple which was cast from 250
tons of solid bronze. It is the largest bronze hall in
China . Afterwards visit the Grand
View Tower and
Nationality Village which symbolizes
the unity between the ethnic groups . It contents a
commemorative square built, a theatre for the
performance of ethnic songs and dances, a folklore
museum . Be transferred to the airport and fly to
Shanghai . Arrive at Shanghai . Be met & transferred
to the hotel with your private guide & vehicle. Free
at leisure for the rest of the day. Day
18 Shanghai (B/L) Visit the famous
Jade Buddha Temple with a 2m high
sitting white Jade Buddha and the 400-year old Yu Yuan
Garden, decorated with masterpieces of Ming
architecture, as well as the Old Town
& the Bund . You also have
a chance to visit the Shanghai
Museum and the famous
Nanjing Road among crowds.
Day 19 Shanghai - - Home (B)
Free at leisure until to be transferred to
the airport for your flight home. Service ends. |
